Arguably, sports is one of the most significant industries in the United States, not only because of the billions of dollars that it generates annually, but because of the breadth and depth of its importance in the lives of millions of Americans, as spectators and participants. Consequently, in order to generate revenue effectively and efficiently, successful leaders in sports business must understand how and why sports are such an important piece of the fabric of our society. This course will introduce issues and strategies relevant to the industry (in the United States), covering a variety of topics including sport-related marketing and consumer behavior as well as past, current and future issues regarding intercollegiate athletics in the United States.
